What is ChatGPT Atlas?

Atlas is OpenAI's Chromium-based browser with ChatGPT as a permanent sidebar that sees the page you're on. Turn on agent mode and it can navigate, click, and complete tasks across sites on your behalf.

Atlas puts ChatGPT's memory and context features directly into browsing — it can recall a page you visited last week, summarise a long thread, or carry context from one tab to the next. Agent mode (rolling out through 2026) lets it complete supervised multi-step tasks: filling forms, comparing products, drafting from research. OpenAI positions it as the natural next step after the ChatGPT app — the browser is now where the agent lives.
